Join master printmaker Dan Welden with 3 days of creativity.
Using Solarplates as a MONOPRINTING vehicle, each artist will have the opportunity to create large images with the intention of making 'unique’ impressions. Delving into the realms of color, texture, line and form through painting and drawing, the participant can experience the surface of the Solarplate process it with sunlight and water. Surprising and enlightening results will be achieved. Large plates, (up to 16X20 inches) will be emphasized. With Dan Welden's guidance, various methods will be demonstrated including his unique approach of "reworking" impressions in painterly and graphic techniques.
Printmaking experience is required and large format will be encouraged.

Solarplates may be purchased directly from the instructor at a 25% discount workshop price with advance notification. Caran d’ache aquarelle crayons and acrylic matt medium, along with mark making tools are suggested. Prior email consultation with Dan concerning plate size order. Printmaking experience is most helpful.

Dan Welden is a master printmaker, painter, teacher and author and one of the original pioneers of safer printmaking processes. His work has been shown in over 70 international solo exhibitions in museums and galleries and over 500 group exhibitions in 13 countries on 5 continents. His paintings and prints are in the collections of the International Printmaking Base in Guanlan, China; Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland; Portland Museum of Art, Oregon; 'the Greater Museum of Art' in Lafayette, Indiana and Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania among others. As the director of Hampton Editions Ltd. he has collaborated with artists Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Kurt Vonnegut, David Salle, Eric Fischl, Jimmy Ernst, James Brooks, Dan Flavin, Esteban Vicente, William King, Ibram Lassaw, David Salle, and many others.
